About The Author About The Artist About The Book History Of The Oatcake Oatcake Recipe		About The Book Several years ago Neil Banks was asked by a local amateur dramatics society to write a pantomime with a local theme. Being born and bred in North Staffordshire, he decided that nothing epitomised the area more than the traditional North Staffs Oatcake. Having always maintained a keen interest in poetry, he set about writing a long poem as the narration to the story of an Oatcake who, like the Gingerbread Man before him, comes to life and embarks on a wild adventure. "Olly The Oatcake" was born. This book is the text of that long poem, which although never becoming a pantomime, has been enjoyed by the author's and his friend's children since its birth.
