About The Author

Neil Banks grew up in and around the Newcastle area, situated in the north western region of Staffordshire. He spent many years as an engineer, beginning as an apprentice and working his way up to be director of a prosperous local company.

It was at the age of thirty-five that he turned his back on his years of engineering experience and went to university to study Social Work and Applied Social Studies, graduating in 1995 with an BA in Applied Social Studies and a Diploma in Social Work and Higher Education. He now works as a Social Worker for Cheshire County Council.

Neil has always been interested in poetry and songwriting and has collaborated with a number of musicians over the years to produce a substantial catalogue of songs, many of which have appeared on CDs and compilation albums.

He has often amused his children over the years with his humourous poems and "Olly The Oatcake" is one of such works.
